Bio
Jason's Acoustic Melodies is the solo project of Jason Bender. A Sarasota Florida based acoustic guitarist and composer.
My journey in creating acoustic melodies began as a teenager listening to my older brother and his friends play electric guitar. Soon after hearing these jam sessions, I wanted to join in.
After high school I enlisted in the Air Force and started taking the instrument more seriously, often practicing 12 hours a day. I began playing in bands and learning how to write and record music.
After serving in the military I returned to my hometown of Wind Gap Pennsylvania and enrolled at Kutztown University to study classical music theory,
While studying at college I also played in various cover bands from the area.
Upon finishing college, I started working at Martin Guitar in Nazareth Pennsylvania as a final inspector. After 18 years of work, I decided it was enough and set out to do new things. But the experience learned in luthier skills and fingerstyle acoustic guitar techniques was invaluable.
Playing acoustic guitar has become part of my life and how to express intimate feelings through ambient mellow tones on the instrument is an ongoing passion.
Over the years my love for guitar has only deepened, leading to the development of unique tunings and capo usage that aim to blend the elements of nature with guitar.
My music is a reflection of the constant desire to develop an original sound that resonates and touches the soul of all who listen.
The original compositions often evoke the tranquility of my surroundings whether in Sarasota or elsewhere and draw inspiration from the natural outdoor ambiance.
As a performing artist, I've shared music with audiences from the stage in venues, condo showings, art exhibits, dinner parties, weddings, yoga classes, store fronts and parks.
When not plucking strings I find solace in fishing, basketball, football, tennis, graphic design, photography, reading and road trips.
Jason's Acoustic Melodies aims to transport listeners to a place of comfort and clarity, one note at a time.
